Veneers Q & A

What are dental veneers?

Dental veneers are a cosmetic dentistry option that enhances the look of your teeth. They can be thought of as wafer-thin porcelain “shells” that cover the visible portion of the front upper and lower teeth.

When you admire the seemingly perfect smile of a celebrity or public official, you’re often admiring a great set of veneers. Advancements in dental technology have made veneers affordable and available to everyone, not just those in the public eye.

What issues can dental veneers correct?

Dental veneers are incredibly versatile and can improve the appearance of many different dental issues. Some of the reasons people choose veneers is to address issues like:

  • Broken or fractured teeth
  • Chipped teeth
  • Unusually small teeth
  • Gaps in their smile
  • Unusually shaped teeth
  • Severe discoloration

Dental veneers can even improve minor misalignment issues, making them a fast and effective way to get the smile of your dreams without braces.

What happens when I come in for dental veneers?

During your initial visit at Park Place Smiles, Dr. Patel determines if you need any restorative care prior to moving forward with veneers. If not, she begins by carefully removing a small portion of your natural tooth tissue to make room for the veneers.

Next, she completes a set of impressions or digital imaging to determine the exact size and shape of your teeth. This information allows the dental lab to craft a set of veneers that aligns perfectly with your natural tooth tissue and creates a natural-looking finished product.

Once your porcelain veneers arrive back from the lab, you return to have them checked for fit and appearance. Once Dr. Patel is happy with the fit, she uses special dental cement to affix the veneers into place.

Once in place, your new veneers could last 10 years or longer. Because the process involves removing some of your tooth enamel, veneers are considered permanent. If your set eventually wears down, you simply come in for a new set of veneers.

Dr. Patel prides herself on creating dental veneers that blend in seamlessly with your natural teeth. If you have questions or concerns about dental veneers, call Park Place Smiles to book a consultation or request one online today.
